Putnam County is dissected by the beautiful St. Johns River and is home to a number of amazing creeks, lakes, and springs. World-class bass fishing and a growing eco-tourism business draw many boating and nature enthusiasts to Putnam County.

 

In order to see to the safety of those enjoying the waterways of our county, PCSO operates an all-weather, all-condition capable Marine Unit and Underwater Search and Recovery Team. With vessels stationed strategically throughout the county, the Marine Unit conducts regular law enforcement and safety patrols and responds to marine accidents, vessels in distress, missing swimmer/boater and environmental incidents.

 

The USRT is the only such team in Putnam County and responds to all incidents involving the need for waterborne search and recovery. This team is trained and equipped to search for and recover victims and evidence from beneath the water’s surface.
